Merced Heights is located in the southwestern part of the City and is well known for its hills. Touring through this neighborhood, you're sure to spot plenty of SFSU students notable for their backpacks and book packs. Great views abound thanks to the hilly terrain. It is an emerging area and considered to be a wise investment for the longer-termed buyers.
Perched between Ingleside (east) and Stonestown (west), Merced Heights is a relatively small enclave, and the neighboring districts fill in the gap for shops and restaurants. Two public parks, Merced Heights Playground and Brooks Park, located on Shields Avenue, call Merced Heights their home.
Another worthwhile spot is the Shields Orizaba Rocky Outcrop, an ideal spot to watch the sunset and commune with nature right in the middle of San Francisco, but only if you're willing to make a bit of an uphill trek. While Merced Heights is primarily residential, its close proximity to amenities and easy access keep it among the more desirable locations.
